Morning Routine: Jack Archer

by Kyle Bardouche

Ever wonder what it's like running one of the coolest sites on the interwebs? Jack Archer, the founder and chief editor of everything cool for men Airows gives us a peek into his morning routine and what gets him out of bed. PS - it's more than just working at home rockin' sweats and Common Projects.

My morning routine is very ritualistic and minimalist with the only real focus being speed and efficiency.

6:00 AM

For years I was robotic about waking up at 5:00 am and kickstarting my day extra-early but I'm on a 6:00 am schedule now. It's less stressful and doesn't require an alarm.

6:05 AM

I brush my teeth with my Quip toothbrush and Marvis toothpaste. The latter gets a lot of love for its cool packaging but its product is what delivers. I'll then quickly shave with my Harry's razor and jump in an icy shower. The colder the better.

6:10 AM

I'll get dry and apply a handful of products. My favorites are Jack Henry Matte Clay Pomade, which I love because there's no grease or shine, and Jack Henry Natural Deodorant, which is the only natural deodorant I've ever used that actually works. I finish things up with Kiehl's Facial Fuel and fragrance from Bryredo

6:15 AM

I throw on something easygoing and casual like tailored sweatpants or jeans with a t-shirt. Working from home has its perks.

6:20 AM

I use a Keurig machine to brew coffee, which isn't aesthetically pleasing or meditative but delivers easiness and convenience which are more important to me. I get my Keurig pods from Bixby, who deliver their specialty coffee direct to your doorstep just a few days after roasting. If I'm in a pinch and need to settle for grocery market coffee, Boyd's makes my second favorite option.

I'm not messing with any food in the AM and intermittent fast daily unless I have a lunch meeting I can't avoid. During the week, I go 20-4 and on weekends, 16-8. I've been about it for three years now. It's the only way!

6:25 AM

Start working up a storm with a Spotify playlist or two on deck. I'm a morning person and, generally, won't even schedule a phone call before noon so I can make sure to have around six hours of deeply focused work that's relatively uninterrupted. When I'm photo editing or doing any design work, I stop the tunes and mix in a podcast. My favorites are The WatchThe Tim Ferriss ShowAgainst All Odds With Cousin Sal, and The Bill Simmons Show
