Pick up whatever you're using now and read the first ingredient, which on most styling products is water. Most of that water dries off your hair after you style it.
This clay has no water in it, so all you need is a small amount, about the size of a pea or a dime, warmed between your palms.
Water-based products also need synthetic preservatives to keep bacteria from growing in all that water.
Some use DMDM hydantoin, a preservative that releases formaldehyde and is named in US class actions over hair loss and scalp burns. With no water in the jar, this clay has no preservatives at all.
